Description

STUDY IN FRANCE !

Short term stays

Réf. FRA9

Language immersion: level 4

More than any other language learning programme, studying abroad offers the unique opportunity to discover a totally different culture, to adapt to a new lifestyle, to understand and master linguistic subtleties. This unforgettable life experience is definitely a first step towards bilingualism.

During a few weeks, you will have the opportunity to live the everyday life of a French student and to go to a French high school: a “collège” if you’re between 14 and 15 years old ; a “lycée” if you’re 16 or 17 years old (FRA3-1). You will be hosted by a French family with a teenager of your age (from 12 to 17), who will not necessarily attend the same school as you. With the programme FRA3-2, you will have 10 French lessons at the beginning of your stay to improve your level and understand more easily in class.

If you want to make sure that your stay is beneficial for you in every way, you will have to take up new challenges, adapt to a different school routine and lifestyle, take the initiative to fit in a distinct environment and build a new social life. Your motivation and desire to communicate will be the keys to success.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAMME?

The programme is designed for students who:

  • are 14 to 17 years old
  • have studied French for a minimum of 3 years
  • have good academic standards
  • have a positive attitude, great motivation and a good behaviour at school in your home country
  • are open-minded and dynamic

LENGTH OF STAY

From 4 to 12 weeks.

ACCOMMODATION

  • Homestay with full-board accommodation
  • Only one teenager of the same nationality in the host family

OUR SCHOOLS

Placement can be made in a public school or in a private school. If you want a placement in a public school and none is available at the dates you require / accepts your application, you can either cancel your stay or we may try to send your application to private schools. Please note that the price is not the same (please refer to the prices detailed below).

You will be assigned to the class which best fits your age, French level and school results in your home country. This may be a class inferior to the class you are in you home country. The teachers and headmaster are the only ones able to make this decision. E.D.I cannot interfere in this matter in any way.

You must go to all your classes or you will be expelled.

In France, school days are long: you will start at 8 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m. Depending on where they live, French students can leave home in the morning at 7 a.m. and come back in the evening after 6 p.m.: you have to be prepared!

During your stay, your classmates may participate in activities, trips or visits in which you won’t be able to join with them. In that case, your head teacher will put you in another class or you will stay at your host family’s place.

At the end of the year, most schools change their organisation because some exams are taking place. Some classes may be cancelled, some schedules changed or the school can even close for a few days. You have to be aware of the fact that if you choose to attend a French school in June, your experience won’t be as interesting as if you go at any other time of the academic year.

CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT

  • Registration is confirmed only once a school accepts your application.
  • A good school record is compulsory (school results and behaviour).
  • You must be highly motivated and willing to adaot to the French way of life
  • We must receive your complete application form at least 5 weeks before departure

You can give an order of preference and we will try to meet your request but WE CANNOT GUARANTEE that the placement will be made in your favourite area. The geographic location must not be a decisive element in your enrolment and you must be flexible.

TRAVEL
